About The Webinar

This talk will define the few terms useful to know when talking about spinal deformities. We will approach anomalies of the spine, which implies anomalies of the bone, the soft tissues around the spinal cord and the spinal cord. For each category, we will discuss the common conditions encountered in dogs. For congenital anomalies of the bone this is hemi-vertebrae causing kyphosis and atlanto-axial instability. For congenital anomalies of the soft tissues around the spinal cord, the most common anomaly by far is sub-arachnoid diverticulum and for congenital anomalies of the spinal cord we will discuss syringomyelia. For each category, I will try to highlight the features that help recognise the condition and their treatment options, alongside some ideas of the prognosis associated with these diseases.
