Disorders of the rabbit kidneys are commonly presented in veterinary practice, especially with improvements in rabbit husbandry, diet and overall welfare meaning that pet rabbits are tending to live longer. A thorough knowledge of normal urogenital anatomy and physiology in this species is essential for the accurate diagnosis, treatment and management of these renal disease in pet rabbits. This webinar will discuss the unique kidney anatomy in rabbits. Differentiation between acute and chronic renal failure will be discussed, appropriate diagnostics and treatment will be covered, with an emphasis on patient welfare and quality of life. Dietary advice will be detailed where appropriate. Common causes of renal failure in pet rabbits will be reviewed.
