About The Webinar

'In this lecture, we will review the common 'neurological' conditions causing weakness / ataxia / lameness in the pelvic limbs in dogs. Namely, these are lumbo-sacral stenosis, thoraco-lumbar disc protrusion and degenerative myelopathy. These have distinct presentations, because of their different locations (lumbo-sacral stenosis causes lower motor neuron signs whereas thoraco-lumbar disc protrusion and degenerative myelopathy cause upper motor neuron signs). We will briefly mention treatment approaches. We will also touch on spinal tumors (talking about cats and lymphoma briefly as an exception in the canine talk), such as meningioma or peripheral nerve sheath tumors. It is important to be aware of peripheral nerve sheath tumors because they cause unexplained lameness and are often diagnosed late, therefore potentially rendering the outcome poor.'
