The webinar will provide an up to date synopsis of all the available options for the management of this frequently encountered disease.
We will begin with a brief look at the underlying disease processes of OA, including our understanding of the recently discovered adipokines and the role of obesity in canine OA. We will cover common locations of osteoarthritis in the dog, which will serve as template for possible sites for intervention.
We will then look at options for management of OA, both medical – to include joint supplements, non steroidal medication and other analgesics - and recent surgical options for OA. Finally we will discuss the development of “regenerative medicine” for OA management. Throughout the talk we will discuss the weight of evidence, or lack of, to support the use of each modality.
