About The Webinar

Urinary tract disease is common in rabbits and establishment of the primary cause can be difficult. Urine scalding in particular is a common clinical signs and can be a result of polyuria, true incontinence (neurological or non-neurological) or the inability of the rabbit to adopt a normal urination stance. Once present, this painful dermatological condition leads to a “vicious circle” where rabbit is reluctant to move or direct the jet or urine away from the body, thus worsening the scalding, and making a clear differentiation between cause and effect more challenging.

Owners often find management of these cases frustrating and difficult, and symptomatic treatment such as bathing can be very stressful for the rabbit. The approach to these urinary tract disease cases is a methodical diagnostic work up, which may include urinalysis, blood tests including serology for E.cuniculi antibodies, neurological assessment and diagnostic imaging of the urinary tract and musculoskeletal system.

This webinar will focus on urinary scalding and will discuss the main causes, diagnostic approach and therapeutic options.
