About The Webinar

In this lecture, we will review the common causes of cerebrovascular accidents in dogs and cats. These are broadly divided in ischemic accidents and haemorrhagic accidents. We will highlight the clinical situations that predispose to these events. This is of particular importance because screening for common cause of ischemic or haemorrhagic accidents is largely feasible in first opinion practice with simple tests. Thereafter, treatments targeting the cause are possible. In an ideal world, advanced diagnostic imaging is needed but not always possible, hence the need to know how to recognise these syndromes. We will therefore describe the common clinical presentations. We will also highlight that cerebrovascular accidents, in particular ischemic ones, have a good prognosis and, therefore, pursuing a diagnosis and allowing the animal time to recover is rewarding
