About The Webinar

Locking plates have been available in small animal orthopaedics for the last 10 years. In recent years, several different systems have come to market and prices have reduced, making them increasingly attractive. Should you consider investing in a locking system, and when is the right time to use a locking plate and when is the wrong time?
The webinar is an introduction to locking plates, would be suitable for small animal surgeons who some experience of orthopaedics and internal fixation, and interested to learn about locking plates.

The webinar will cover:

  • how locking plates work
  • the essential differences between non-locking and locking plates
  • the principles of locking plates application
  • how and why locking plates need a different thinking approach
  • the locking systems available to small animal practitioners in the UK
  • Minimally Invasive Plate Osteosynthesis (MIPO) and the evidence for locking plates will be covered in brief
