About The Webinar

Pet rodents are commonly presented with diseases affecting the reproductive tract and mammary glands. Myomorph rodents (mice, rats, gerbils, hamsters) and hystricomorph rodents ( guinea pigs, chinchillas) are highly efficient and prolific breeders but have very different reproductive strategies, so it is important to have a good understanding of their reproductive physiology and anatomy. This webinar will cover the common reproductive disorders seen in these species and their diagnosis and medical or surgical management. Preventive measures such as neutering are increasingly being employed in rodents and can significantly reduce the incidence of many diseases; options such as surgical ovariectomy and hormonal treatment will also be discussed.
