About The Webinar
Cats are not small dogs. This statement could not be more true when it comes to diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the feline stifle joint. Cranial cruciate ligament rupture and patellar luxation are frequent conditions in dogs, which also occur in cats, but there are several significant anatomic differences, which require an adjusted approach to these conditions when treating affected cats. Meniscal mineralisation, patellar fracture and patellar tendon injuries and stifle joint dislocation are other examples of features and conditions which require feline specific knowledge in order to tailor the treatment to the individual cat with the aim to achieve an optimal outcome.
In this webinar we will review the current knowledge and evidence on diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the feline stifle joint. I will share clinical case examples with you to highlight potential pitfalls and possible complications and we will discuss techniques and tricks of how to avoid them in order to deal with cats with stifle joint disorders successfully.
At the end of the webinar, you will be able to
• Define the anatomic differences of the stifle joint of cats compared to dogs.
• Describe and recognise the clinical signs of cats related with conditions affecting stifle joint in cats .
• Discuss the decision making process in choosing a treatment method.
• Recall the critical surgical steps.
• Propose a rehabilitation plan for cats after stifle surgery.
• Devise a plan how to address possible complications associated with feline stifle surgery.
