About The Webinar

The success of seizure treatment depends in large part on the approach that is taken prior to initiation of the medication. Confirmation of seizure activity depends on the ability to rule out several mimics of seizure activity which include syncope and movement disorders. We will discuss how history can help with this aspect. Confirmation of idiopathic epilepsy depends on a complete diagnostic investigation including CSF tap and MRI. However, a high index of suspicion of idiopathic disease can be gained prior to this work up and this will also be discussed. The tests that are performed to rule in idiopathic disease may also help identify other causes of seizure activity and these will be discussed during this session. The time at which to initiate medication is a very important issue and the factors that go into making this decision will also be reviewed.
