Neurological diseases affecting young animals are often congenital or inherited in origin affecting structure of the nervous system and or function. This session will review the most common neurological diseases we see affecting dogs less than a year old. These include hydrocephalus, AA subluxation, hepatic encephalopathy and storage diseases. We will review the most common clinical signs and then detail how to diagnose and treat these diseases. Some of the diseases however have guarded to poor prognoses and so expensive treatments involving surgery may not be the best plan; the prognosis of all the conditions will be covered.
