About The Webinar

This session will focus on three common causes of serious but non-surgical spinal cord disease. The characteristic presentations of each of these diseases will help separate them out as differentials and these will be emphasized using video footage. Ischemic myelopathy is most commonly caused by fibrocartilaginous emboli and presents as a sudden onset of spinal cord dysfunction which is most often non-painful. Inflammatory disease (meningitis / myelitis) affecting the spinal cord is most commonly painful and often has a rapidly progressive course whereas degenerative myelopathy is non-painful and slowly progressive over many months. The identification of these diseases will be discussed as will their respective treatment options.
