About The Webinar
Disorders of the head and face in dogs and cats can be neurological, muscular, ophthalmological, soft tissue or orthopedic in origin. Neurological disorders are usually due to dysfunctions of the cranial nerves. In this session, we will focus on disorders of the main cranial nerves supplying the head and face. Neurological disorders of the eye and vestibular system are dealt with in other sessions. We will use video footage to demonstrate the common disorders such as facial paresis, dropped jaw, masticatory muscle atrophy and trismus. The investigation of these abnormalities will be highlighted with a focus on how the neurological exam can help indicate a peripheral or centrally based lesion which dictate vastly different differential diagnoses. The treatment and prognoses of the disorders will be addressed individually.
