About The Webinar

In terms of anatomy and physiology most of our British wild animals are not dissimilar to their domestic counterparts. This should in theory make treating these animals relatively straight forwards from a veterinary perspective. Wild animals are however not exotic pets and the considerations for their assessment and care are very different. This webinar looks at the legal implications of treating native British wildlife from first phone call to ultimate release. It explains the importance of careful examination and ‘triage’ of casualties to ensure their suitability for treatment and rehabilitation, emphasising the need for a strong working relationship with wildlife professional rehabilitators. The webinar also considers how releasing wildlife casualties from care can have significant impacts on other animals, both wild and domestic, as well as on the broader ecosystem, and how these must be taken into consideration when treating these cases.
