About The Webinar

This is the second part of a webinar on the surgical management of osteoarthritis in dogs, with some feline comparative data included. It is delivered in three sections. Section one recaps and updates the section on excision arthroplasty, specifically as it applies to our feline patients. Section two explores “load shifting osteotomies”. These have been used for decades in people with medial knee osteoarthritis, and there has been growing interest in their application to medial compartment disease in canine elbows. The theoretical mechanics are reviewed, along with a summary of the information available on these techniques. Section three is a summary of pantarsal arthrodesis, as applied in the treatment of osteoarthritis in that joint.
