About The Webinar
Despite advances over the past 50 years in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques, it is still one of the least successful treatment options we can offer, with survival to discharge rates remaining disappointingly low. This lecture will look at the changes which have been made in terms of CPR recommendations in veterinary patients in the recent years and will explain the outcome of the RECOVER initiative, and the new CPR guidelines. We will look at how these guidelines can be applied practically in the ‘crash’ situation and we will take a step by step approach to CPR in order to improve outcome in this emergency situation and looks at how monitoring can be used to assess the efficacy of CPR being performed.
All aspects of CPR will be discussed from Basic Life Support (chest compressions and ventilation) to Advanced Life Support (post cardiac arrest care and drug administration). We will look at the best techniques to use in order to gain the best possible outcome for our patients, and how we can utilize our nursing skills in order to try and spot patients that are at high risk of cardiac arrest through to how we can intensively monitor the patient that we have successfully managed to resuscitate.
