Toxicological emergencies are common in small animal patients, can be challenging to manage, and may result in a high degree of morbidity and even mortality. During this webinar we will discuss an approach to the intoxicated small animal patient, with a focus on practical techniques that can be used within the first hour of presentation to improve outcome. Updated guidelines for gastrointestinal decontamination for commonly ingested toxins will be provided, based on the latest available evidence. There will also be discussion of the use of specific antidotes, where applicable, as well as supportive care strategies that can be provided to the majority of intoxicated patients. Also included will be the top 5 common mistakes made in toxicology cases and how they can be avoided.
