About The Webinar

Failure of bone to heal is a very frustrating and serious but thankfully not common complication of fracture and osteotomy management. This webinar will take a comprehensive approach to understanding how bone normally heals and then develop this knowledge to understanding why and when bone doesn’t heal. Finally we will consider how to develop effective strategies to get non-healing bone to heal. Topics covered will include:

  • Understanding normal bone healing including primary (gap and contact) and secondary (callus) healing
  • Understanding failure modes of bone healing including delayed union, non-union, malunion and bone re-fracture
  • Understanding the different strategies available to manage abnormal bone healing including revision surgery and bone graft options including autograft, allograft, demineralised bone matrix DMB and Bone Morphogenic Proteins BMPs
