About The Webinar

Urogenital trauma is a common emergency presentation. This talk will focus on the most common urinary tract injuries and will discuss the stabilisation and management of these conditions. There will be a focus on how to improve the quality of the diagnostic imaging techniques in order to facilitate the decision making for these cases.
This lecture will discuss everything from bladder rupture and repair methods to the best way to identify a ruptured ureter. There will be a focus on urinary catheter placement techniques in cases of urethral rupture as well as how to place a cystostomy tube for those cases where urethral catheter placement is not possible. An algorithm for the decision making for urethral injury is discussed. Urethrostomies are a salvage technique whereby the longest portion of the urethra is maintained in order to reduce the chances of urinary incontinence and recurrent urinary tract infections.
