About The Webinar
Veterinary services to dairy farms is evolving from individual cow treatments to herd health management. As vets engage with herd health a broad understanding is required of both production and infectious disease. Vets need to be able to measure farm performance through key performance indicators and assess these against both national benchmarks and the farm's own targets. Using knowledge of the farm management and infectious disease status the vet can assess underlying reasons for sub-optimal performance and introduce an action plan. A broad range of skills are required in investigation, training and communication to implement changes effectively. Following introduction of changes, review is essential to ensure advice has been acted upon and to monitor outcomes. Successful implementation results in confidence in the process of health management and further opportunities. The webinar will look at a variety of clinical situations on dairy farms, including both production and infectious disease to illustrate the approach.
