About The Webinar
Critically ill patients are often hospitalised for several days while their underlying disease is investigated and treated. It is not uncommon for patients to develop new clinical signs during their hospitalisation, despite an apparent improvement in their primary disease process. Sometimes these new clinical signs represent a complication of the primary disease process but on other occasions, the new problem can be considered to be an iatrogenic complication of our interventions or of hospitalisation.
In this lecture we will look at some of the potential causes of deterioration in hospitalised patients and strategies that can be used to prevent or treat them when they arise. The focus of the talk will be respiratory complications of hospitalisation but other common problems will also be discussed.
