About The Webinar
This webinar gives an overview of the physiology of ventilation, why is it needed and how to achieve sufficient ventilation of the anaesthetised patient using a mechanical ventilator. Disadvantages of artificial ventilation will be discussed. Terminology relating to respiration will be explored and the definitions made relevant to physiological changes that occur during mechanical ventilation.
Different types of ventilators will be examined, together with their classifications. Ventilator settings will be considered and practical use of ventilators will be described. How to wean the patient from the ventilator will be illustrated and a section on troubleshooting is included.
There will be a case study of a mechanically ventilated dog will be given, showing how the ventilator settings affect capnography.
