About The Webinar

Syncope and seizure can mimic one another with a consequent high rate of misdiagnosis, particularly as affected patients are often normal at the time of presentation. It is important that we correctly distinguish causes of weakness and fainting from malignant cardiac arrhythmias which can degenerate into ventricular fibrillation or cardiac arrest. As clinicians, we are often reliant on incomplete owner history. During the course of this webinar, we will discuss the various causes of collapse, with a particular emphasis on cardiac causes, and suggest a systematic approach to collapsing patients. The presentation will include plenty of case examples, video and echo recordings, ECGs and the latest results on the use of biomarkers.

What you will learn:

  • The different causes of collapse
  • A systematic approach to the patient with intermittent collapse
  • Case examples, with a particular emphasis on cardiac patients, interspersed with echocardiographic images and ECGs
