About The Webinar
Trauma patients are often presented to a veterinary hospital with true medical emergencies. Understanding trauma patterns and what to look for will give the attending clinician confidence in their case management. This lecture will focus on a systematic approach that can be applied to all trauma patients. A thorough discussion of how to perform a triage examination will be provided. Next, how to approach patient stabilization during triage will be presented. Point of care testing recommended during stabilization of trauma patients will be reviewed. This information will be summarized using a hypothetical case in order to maximize clinical correlations and demonstrate important points and concepts specific to certain types of trauma. Trauma scoring systems will also be discussed. By the end of this lecture, attendees should have the baseline knowledge needed to effectively and confidently treat the next trauma patient that walks (or is carried) through their door.
