Shoulder based lameness is a frequent and often frustrating forelimb lameness. Whilst the elbow joint has and continues to receive major investigation the shoulder has received much less interest however this is slowly changing. We are starting to understand the structure and function of the shoulder. In this lecture we hope to look at a number of the common diseases that affect the canine shoulder joint, looking at aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment options based on current understanding.
