About The Webinar

This webinar is addressed to general practitioners with some degree of experience in soft tissue surgery and is intended to describe the recommended steps in the diagnosis and treatment of septic peritonitis.
We will start to explore the meaning and classification of peritoneal disease to focus on the septic peritoneal inflammation.
The overall prognosis for patients with septic peritonitis is in function of the underlying cause, patient’s health, initial medical treatment, time until surgical intervention and the effectiveness of surgery in treating the condition. Reported mortality in veterinary patients treated for septic peritonitis ranges from 20% to 68%. Rapid diagnosis with rapid haemodynamic stabilization, infection control and appropriate post-operative management are therefore key points to increase the odds of success.
