About The Webinar

Physiotherapy and rehabilitation are essential aspects in the management of musculoskeletal conditions in small animals. It is necessary to understand the various orthopaedic conditions and their conservative and surgical treatments, which will help to design an appropriate rehabilitation program. It is also very important to monitor the patient´s progress on a regular basis in order to adjust and modify the rehabilitation therapy accordingly.
Forelimb orthopaedic conditions frequently affect the shoulder and elbow joints. Pathologies affecting these joints may be managed surgically or non-surgically, and rehabilitation is an essential aspect of the management of these patients in order to return limb function to preinjury levels. Surgical stabilization of bone fractures also requires a postoperative management program that would decrease the risk of complications and would promote limb function and bone healing. Physical agents (i.e. laser therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, extracorporeal shockwave therapy, etc) , manual therapies and therapeutic exercises are frequently included in the rehabilitation program of animals with forelimb orthopaedic conditions. In this webinar we will cover the rehabilitation therapies available to us in order to encourage tissue healing, manage pain, return limb function to preinjury levels, and to decrease the risk of postoperative complications and reinjury in animals with forelimb orthopaedic conditions.
