About The Webinar

Veterinary use of antimicrobial agents has come under close scrutiny as the global healthcare problem of multi-drug resistant bacterial infections has become one of the most important issues for healthcare providers. Although many think this is mostly due to use of antimicrobials by the food animal industry it is clear that regulations and restrictions will be applied to all vets and so the implications for small animal practice are significant. This presentation will discuss the problem of multi-drug resistance bacterial infections, particularly as they relate to emergency and critical care situations and how we think this problem is being propagated, and what we should be doing to minimise our contribution to the problem. We will also discuss what constitutes appropriate and rational antimicrobial use in emergency and critical care situations.
