About The Webinar
Neuro-ophthalmology is an intimidating subject for many people, but if it is approached in a logical manner then those confusing pathways can suddenly make sense! Anisocoria is the term used to describe a difference in the size of the left and right pupils. This webinar will start with a basic summary of the factors that determine pupil size in the healthy animal. This will be followed by some tips and tricks for how to determine which pupil is affected when you are presented with an animal showing anisocoria. The most common neurological causes for unilateral pupil constriction (miosis) and unilateral pupil dilation (mydriasis) will be summarised, including Horner syndrome and oculomotor nerve dysfunction respectively, and the importance of considering non-neurological causes for these presentations will also be stressed. This will be followed by a step-by-step guide to approaching these cases in practice, supported by clinical examples and case videos.
