About The Webinar

Rabbits are one of the most popular pet species in Britain, being commonly kept as house pets and often becoming a highly regarded family member. There is a high expectation from rabbit owners for good quality veterinary care of this species. Owners should be encouraged to have their pet rabbit checked by a veterinary surgeon every six months, particularly since being a prey species rabbits often hide signs of ill-health. As with routine health checks in dogs and cats, preventative health care programs should be discussed with the owner on initial presentation of the rabbit. Areas that should be discussed include vaccination protocols, neutering, appropriate husbandry, dietary requirements, behavioural problems, routine flea treatments, fly-strike prevention, whether routine worming is required and insurance. Older animals are more prone to disease and therefore should be checked on a regular basis. It is important to educate owners so that they are familiar with any subtle clinical signs of illness in older rabbits.
This webinar will discuss potential husbandry and diet related conditions in pet rabbits, as well as vaccination protocols, neutering and routine drug treatments.
