About The Webinar

Matted caecotrophs are a common presentation in veterinary practice and can have several different causes as well as secondary underlying factors. It is important to distinguish this from true diarrhoea, the latter of which can rapidly become life threatening in pet rabbits, particularly young animals. A detailed clinical history and examination is important to aid diagnosis of this condition. This webinar will discuss how to distinguish faecal staining due to matted caecotrophs from true diarrhoea, as well as how to identify any underlying causes. The main differential diagnoses for faecal staining and diarrhoea will be outlined. Appropriate diagnostic tests to determine the cause and identify any underlying factors involved will be detailed. The approach to treatment and long term management of matted caecotrophs in pet rabbits will be discussed. This webinar is a useful resource for veterinary staff working in practice with pet rabbit patients.
