About The Webinar

Paroxysmal events are a heterogenous group of time-limited events, characterized by changes in motor or behavioural activity beginning abruptly and ending in a short time.
These events can be epileptic (seizures) and non-epileptic. However, paroxysmal events refer usually to non-epileptic but owing to their manifestation, these conditions can clinically be mistaken for seizures. With this presentation we focus more on non-seizure related events and go through the most common ones, such as movement disorders (ie paroxysmal dyskinesia), myoclonus, sleep behaviour disorders and other behaviours (fly-catching), which can be perceived as seizures, and try to differentiate them from other collapsing events. A variety of video examples are shown and we discuss a practical diagnostic approach and treatment options.
