About The Webinar

GDVs were once commonly seen in first opinion practice, however since specific emergency clinics have become increasingly common many nurses are less familiar in how to deal with such patients. This course will look at what the nursing skills required to achieve a successful outcome; from initial presentation to post-operative care. It will focus on the common initial presentation of these patients, what action should be taken on first admission. It will look at the changes in the major body systems seen in GDV patients, reviewing the types of shock seen in these patients. The lecture will cover the initial stabilisation of these patients, including drug administration and fluid therapy. These patients are highly reliant on excellent post-operative nursing so this lecture will look at what can be done in recovery for these patients in order to achieve a positive outcome.
