About The Webinar

“Metabolic bone disease” (MBD) is a common diagnosis in reptile medicine but actually encompasses a whole range of conditions with the most common being nutritional secondary hyperparathyroidism and renal secondary hyperparathyroidism. These conditions are frequently seen in captive reptiles, especially lizards and chelonians.

This webinar will cover the various aetiologies of MBD and how we can educate owners to prevent this debilitating condition. Controversy still exists as to which reptiles benefit from exposure UV-b light and the latest research will be discussed in addition to the different options for vitamin and mineral supplementation. Clinical signs, diagnostics and treatment of disease will be discussed and case examples will be used.
