About The Webinar

Traumatic brain injury secondary to a closed head injury is relatively common in small animals, especially cats hit by cars. As always major systems examination and stabilisation of life-threatening injuries, extra- or intracranial, is essential. Nothing can be done about the primary injury to the brain that already exists but every effort should be made to minimise secondary brain injury that may ensue. In this webinar we will discuss a rational approach to the TBI patient and management priorities, including ensuring adequate brain perfusion and oxygenation. We will also consider treatment for raised intracranial pressure and other important considerations in the TBI patient many of whom can return to a reasonable quality of life given time and appropriate care.
