About The Webinar

Nutrition is a vital aspect of managing the critically ill patient and meeting their nutritional requirements should not be overlooked when devising a nursing care plan. Enteral nutrition is the most appropriate choice and can be administered in a number of ways. If a patient can be encouraged to eat and their total energy requirement can be met, then this is ideal. However, often there are factors involved that can make this difficult. Tube-feeding is successfully used as a method to provide nutrition to such patients. It is relatively cost effective and can be used for both the short-term or longer term nursing care.

In this presentation, Rebecca Jones will look at the role nutrition plays, the vital nutrients that should be included and how to calculate a patient's energy requirement, together with the options available for tube-feeding, their indications for use and how to manage them.
