About The Webinar

Giving a cat a whole blood transfusion may not be an everyday procedure in most practices. However when this necessary, blood is often needed in an emergency. With no feline blood banks being available in the UK, obtaining feline blood quickly can be challenging and so it is important for the veterinary practice to have a standard operating procedure. This lecture will discuss when a blood transfusion is necessary and focus on considerations in obtaining a suitable blood donor, preparing to collect and collecting blood from a donor and ensuring a safe transfusion to the recipient.
