With no feline blood banks being available in the UK, obtaining feline blood quickly can be challenging and so it is important for the veterinary practice to have a standard operating procedure. This lecture will discuss when a blood transfusion is necessary and focus on considerations in obtaining a suitable blood donor, preparing to collect and collecting blood from a donor and ensuring a safe transfusion to the recipient.
