The popularity of brachycephalic dogs continues to rise despite the wider spread dissemination of concerns about their welfare to the general public. Due to the complex nature of the issues seen, these patients can present in severe respiratory distress. This webinar will look at assessment and decision making of dogs with brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS) presenting as an emergency, case selection including surgical decision making and when to consider referral. We will also looks at the complex nature of post-operative management in some BOAS patients. We will discuss basic surgical techniques and the placement and management of temporary tracheostomy tubes.
