About The Webinar

Elbow dysplasia is the commonest cause of thoracic limb lameness in young and medium/large breed dogs and although it begins in puppyhood it can continue to affect the dog for the rest of its life. The term “elbow dysplasia” is used to describe an abnormality of development of the elbow joint. This is a very complex joint that is made by three bones that sometimes do not fit properly together. This leads to an increased concentration of forces on specific regions of the joint resulting in very different types of lesion. Each of these lesions require different surgical approaches; it is therefore extremely important to thoroughly understand the aetiopathogenesis of the disease to be able to instigate the best possible treatment.

Early diagnosis leads to quicker treatment and better prognosis. The aim of this webinar is to teach you how to diagnose elbow dysplasia early in life, to investigate the problem further, to manage owner’s expectations and to decide when is the correct timing for treatment/referral.
