About The Webinar

Ear disease in pet rabbits is currently a hot topic and is increasingly being reported in the literature. A higher incidence is seen in lop-eared rabbits, thought to be due to their pinna anatomy. This webinar will review normal anatomy of the rabbit’s ear in order to understand how ear disease develops in this species. Clinical signs associated with ear disease (Otitis externa, media and interna) will be discussed and outlined. Diagnosis is based on clinical signs, otoscopic examination, ear cytology, culture and CT imaging, all of which will be discussed. Surgical treatment options and syringing under general anaesthesia (myringotomy) will be described as well as long term management of these cases. A novel treatment technique for ear base swellings in conscious pet rabbits will be discussed. This is a basic over view aimed at veterinary surgeons and nurses in clinical veterinary practice working with rabbit patients.
