About The Webinar

This webinar will look at some surgical emergencies that can be difficult to manage. Urethral obstruction can be challenging and there will be tips on catheterisation in order to avoid urethral trauma. There will be information on different techniques to help retropulse stones back into the bladder and what to do if you cannot. There will be a detailed description on how to perform a cystotomy and how to avoid leaving stones behind. There will be a focus on diagnosing abdominal effusions, in particular septic peritonitis and haemoabdomen. The webinar will include details on how to perform a splenectomy, including the “fast” technique for splenic masses that are actively bleeding. An approach to exploratory laparotomies in order to locate the source of contamination will also be discussed.
