About The Webinar
Mast Cell Tumours (MCTs) are one of the most common cancers dealt with by veterinary practitioners in the UK. They are round cell tumours and usually occur on the skin; though subcutaneous, mucosal and visceral forms are also seen occasionally. Most are cured by adequate surgical excision but on some cases, such as in awkward anatomic sites, local radiation therapy is required for adequate local control. Unfortunately some dogs develop more aggressive forms of MCT which have high metastatic potential and result in death due to tumour. These dogs are likely to require systemic therapy such as chemotherapy or tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) to control their disease. Hopefully this webinar will give an overview of the diagnosis, staging and different arms of management of canine MCTs.
