Blood transfusion should be considered a lifesaving procedures for many animals: it is often used in the resuscitation period of animals suffering of acute blood loss and it can prolong life of a patient that suffers from serious chronic anaemia. Blood and blood products thanks to private blood banks are becoming more available to every clinic. Blood transfusion is however a procedure that should be accurately performed as it is not free of complications.
