About The Webinar

Avian medicine can be challenging at times, not least because birds are adept at hiding signs of illness until problems are at an advanced stage. Avian vets must therefore be confident in their approach to the critical patient and prepared to act quickly in an emergency situation.

This webinar will cover preparation for the arrival of a critical patient, initial triage and stabilization of the critical case. This will include fluid therapy, nutritional support and provision of analgesia. Once the bird has been stabilized, potential diagnostic and treatment plans will be discussed for the common emergency presentations. Case examples will be used and management of these conditions will be compared in the common species presented in practice including psittacines, raptors and chickens.
