About The Webinar
Common Calcaneal Tendinopathies in dogs can have a traumatic or atraumatic aetiology. Whereas traumatic injuries are usually straightforward in the decision-making as surgery is recommended in most cases, decision making in cases with underlying tendinopathy that are more chronic can be truly challenging.
A wide variety of treatment options are available from novel, more conservative methods using regenerative medicine, over approaches to temporarily holding the joint in an extended position using either a calcaneal-tibial screw, a trans-articular external fixator or an orthotic brace - possibly in combination with a tenorrhaphy - to salvage procedures like a pancarpal arthrodesis. Different surgical options exist for tendon support and to address loss of tendon structure. In all cases, the aftercare is extremely important and in that the patient owner, but also physio- and hydrotherapists play a crucial role.
This webinar will provide you with strategies to assess and treat dogs with common calcaneal tendinopathies effectively. Together we will analyse treatment options and discuss decision-making processes in order to optimise the overall outcome aiming for return to full or near-full function while minimising complications
