In this session we will cover the approach to the dyspneic patient including preparation and triage of such fragile patients. Reduction of stress is imperative and we will discuss sedation and cage-side imaging with ultrasound to enable us to make decisions regarding emergency treatments. We will cover oxygen delivery and methods of oxygen supplementation, After this brief introduction we will focus on cases of emergent dyspneic patients and differentiating cardiac from respiratory causes of dyspnoea; specifically we will cover cases of congestive heart failure, aspiration pneumonia and pulmonary contusions.
