About The Webinar

The endocrine system is largely concerned with regulating normal homeostasis. Any endocrine disorder will have an impact on anaesthesia, and it is important to be aware of the changes that occur when such conditions are present, and how the perianaesthetic period can be affected. Stabilisation of the patient prior to anaesthesia will decrease the anaesthetic risk, but it is not always possible to achieve a stable state, and sometimes anaesthesia is required in an emergency situation.

In this webinar, four endocrine conditions will be discussed. Pathophysiology relating to the conditions will be explained. Different drugs will be discussed, as it is important to understand the relevant pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Monitoring during anaesthesia will be explored, as will concerns and complications, together with care during the recovery period.
