About The Webinar

Anaesthesia of patients with head injuries brings specific challenges, as any disruption to brain activity can affect the anaesthetic process. In addition, drugs may behave differently in these patients. It is important to have a basic understanding of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, in order to be aware of any problems that patients with head injury and trauma can experience. The first part of this webinar is aimed at explaining the physiology of the brain and nervous system.

Head injuries may present as one of several types, depending on the cause. Classification of traumatic brain injury will be explained, and ways in which these patients are assessed and managed will be explored.
