This webinar will discuss management of acute abdominal disease from initial patient stabilisation to the recovery period. A patient with acute abdominal disease is a common presentation to the veterinary practice and challenges all members of the team to ensure a successful outcome. The focus of this webinar will be on the importance of the pre-anaesthetic period, patient monitoring during anaesthesia, intra-operative analgesia and the recovery period. Effective, simple techniques will be used as well as demonstrating the usefulness of certain monitoring modalities and essential pieces of equipment. During this webinar we will discuss:

  • Initial patient stabilisation; analgesia, fluid therapy and minimum blood database
  • Induction of anaesthesia
  • Maintenance of anaesthesia, including analgesia and fluid therapy
  • Monitoring of anaesthesia
  • The recovery period
