About The Webinar
Thoracic radiology is challenging because it can be technically difficult to obtain good-quality radiographs of the thorax, as well as superimposition of different structures, a wide range of possible normal variations and because radiographic findings are commonly non-specific. The webinar is providing a practical step-by-step guide for radiological interpretation of the lungs and associated structures. The discussion covers:
• Brief discussion of normal anatomy
• Recognition of normal vs abnormal radiographic findings including normal variation and ageing changes.
• Common pitfalls and how to avoid them, particularly those relating to radiographic technique.
• Recognition and interpretation of the distribution and radiographic changes commonly encountered, including recognition of different lung patterns.
• Common additional radiographic findings which may aid diagnosis, and importance of correlation with history, clinical signs and laboratory tests.
• Discussion of the most common differential diagnoses for the different radiographic presentations.
• Where appropriate, CT images are used alongside radiographs, which helps to understand the cause for common radiographic changes.
